Application for Readmission

Readmission Policy

Because the enrollment of Whitman College is limited by a number of factors the College must exercise "selective readmission" as well as selective admission. Readmission decisions will be based upon the relative merits of each case in relation to the total standards of Whitman College.

Readmission applies to the following:
  • Full-time matriculated students who withdraw from Whitman College for any reason, withdrawal meaning any interruption of continuous re- registration in the College whether voluntary or a consequence of illness or dismissal for low scholarship or unsatisfactory conduct. Students on leave of absence are not required to apply for readmission. (Note that reinstatement following dismissal for low scholarship does not carry automatic readmission. A student who has been so reinstated must apply for readmission as described below.)
  • Full-time matriculated students who are currently registered in the College and whose reservation in the College is cancelled because of failure to pre-register for the next semester or who fail to pay the deposits stipulated within the time specified in the re-registration permits.
Students must complete the following steps to apply for readmission BEFORE their application will be considered:
  • Complete and submit the information required in the form below.
  • If student has attended another college or university subsequent to last residence in Whitman College, have an official transcript forwarded to the Office of Admission from each collegiate institution the applicant has attended.
  • If interruption of residence in Whitman College was caused by physical or mental illness, have a complete medical report sent to the Office of Admission.
